Top Of The Class...

So, I've just seen High School Musical. The Disney movie that's been getting mucho love from everyone tween the world over.

Now, I may be 22... but I am a huge fan of kitsch and anything that involves random outbreaks of singing... safe to say that this was something I was looking forward to.

And I was not disappointed.

A song in which a guy confesses to his love of baking should be standard for all future films.

Even if the leading man of this one appears to be the awkward, camp son of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's Ty Pennington. He's definitely not a jock, no matter how much basketball he plays.

And no nerdy girls at my school ever looked like Gabriella, that's for sure.

The bitchy blonde duo battling our all-singing all-dancing protagonists are a tweenage Jack and Karen from Will & Grace, albeit with more youthful ambition.

Needless to say everything is tied up at the end in a ridiculously neat bow, ignoring any character traits built up over the rest of the film...

But leave your cynicism at the door and check out the guy in the viking hat in the karaoke scene getting down to the funky music. The extras in that scene are comedy GOLD.

Oh yeah, and get ready for High School Musical 2 coming soon...
